ALABASTER — A Thompson Sixth Grade Center physical education teacher, who also serves as the Thompson Middle School head baseball coach, was arrested May 24 on two drug charges.

Jonathan Jermaine Moore was arrested by the Shelby County Drug Task Force and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of marijuana, said Lt. Chris George.

Moore, who was being held on a $16,000 bond, posted bond May 24.

Shelby County Schools spokesperson Cindy Warner said the system is still investigating the matter.

"Legal constraints prevent me from commenting on personnel matters while they are under investigation," Warner said. "Our practice in every case where there are allegations of professional misconduct is to thoroughly investigate and deal appropriately with the situation once all the facts are known."
