Great Role Model Coaching Youth Baseball

MOBILE, Ala. -- A 35-year-old youth baseball coach was arrested this afternoon and charged with trafficking cocaine and carrying a pistol without a permit, police said.

Marklon Rayford Wade II is in the Mobile County Metro Jail without bond. Mobile police spokesman Officer Christopher Levy said Wade was arrested in west Mobile shortly after noon with more than a kilogram of cocaine in his possession. Levy said the police Inteligence Unit and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force took part in the arrest.

Wade coaches a baseball team of 11- and 12-year-old boys in the Saraland Parks and Recreation Department, but Todd Edge, who directs the boys baseball program for the department, said "His future is over here."
Wade also coached last year in the city's youth football program, sports program Vice Chairman Bill Silver said, but he has not applied to coach football this fall.
